How long does an asphalt driveway last in Wisconsin?
15 to 25 years with sealcoating every 2 to 3 years and crack filling each fall; often less than 15 without maintenance. Freeze-thaw cycles, standing water, and plow damage are the main life shorteners here, and a good base and drainage are the main defenses.
Why are there tire marks on my new driveway?
New asphalt stays soft in summer heat for the first few months. Turning the wheel while stopped, sharp turns, and point loads like kickstands leave scuffs. They are cosmetic, they blend away over time, and they do not mean the driveway was installed wrong.
Will snowplowing damage my driveway?
It can scrape edges and gouge soft spots, especially on a driveway paved late in the season. Ask your plow operator to use skids or shoes and lift the blade slightly, and avoid plowing a first-year driveway during warm spells when the asphalt is soft.
Should I repair or replace my old driveway?
If the base is sound and the cracking is limited, crack filling, patching, and sealcoating will buy years at a low cost, and an overlay can restore the surface. If it has alligator cracking across large areas, sinks, or holds water, replacement is the lasting fix. We will tell you which during the free estimate.
Do you give free estimates for small jobs?
