SEALCOATING AND CRACK FILLING · GREEN BAY AND NORTHEAST WISCONSIN
Asphalt Sealcoating and Crack Filling in Green Bay and Pulaski, WI
Protect your driveway or parking lot from water, sun, salt, and oil for pennies per square foot instead of dollars per square foot to replace it.
Sealcoating Preserves Your Asphalt Investment
Sealcoating is a protective coating applied over sound asphalt to block water, UV oxidation, gas, oil, and salt melt, restore the black color, and add years to the pavement’s life. In Northeast Wisconsin the right schedule is the year after paving, then every 2 to 3 years for driveways and every 2 to 4 years for parking lots. Residential sealcoating typically runs $0.50 to $1.00 per square foot and commercial lots less.
Martiny Paving has been sealcoating in the Green Bay area since 2019 and applies SealMaster 100 percent coal tar sealer as well as asphalt-emulsion sealers, sand-modified for traction and durability, by hand around garages and concrete and by spray on open areas. Cracks are routed and hot-pour sealed first, because sealer protects a surface; it does not fill cracks.

Sealcoating Questions, Answered
When should I sealcoat a new asphalt driveway for the first time?
Wait until the year after installation, after the asphalt has cured through a full season. Sealing too early traps the oils that need to work out of new asphalt and leaves a soft, scuff-prone surface. After that, seal every 2 to 3 years.
How often should I sealcoat?
Every 2 to 3 years for driveways and every 2 to 4 years for parking lots, depending on traffic and plowing. Yearly sealing causes buildup that peels; waiting five or more years lets oxidation and water do damage that sealer cannot undo.
Does sealcoating fill cracks?
No. Sealer covers hairline cracks but anything a quarter inch or wider must be routed and hot-pour sealed first. We do both on the same visit, which is why our service is called sealcoating and crack filling.
What weather do you need to sealcoat?
Pavement and air at 50 degrees and rising, no rain for about 24 hours, and ideally a sunny day between May and October. We watch the forecast and reschedule rather than seal into rain.
How long do I stay off the driveway after sealcoating?
24 to 36 hours for vehicles, up to 48 hours in cool or humid weather, and avoid turning the wheel while stopped for a few weeks. Foot traffic is fine after a few hours once the surface is dry to the touch.
How much does sealcoating cost?
Residential driveways typically run $0.50 to $1.00 per square foot, so a 1,000 square foot driveway is usually a few hundred dollars, and commercial lots are priced lower per foot. Crack sealing is billed separately by the linear foot. Call 920-770-5805 or request a free quote.
